19 best Black Friday mattress deals (2022): Bedding, pillows, blankets

Sleep is essential, but it is not always easy. Some people can sleep on a plank of wood, and some of us need the perfect mattress, the crispest sheets perfectly tucked, and a nice sound machine crackling nearby. Luckily, there are Black Friday deals on all of these things. The prices included here for mattresses are for the queen-size version.

Updated November 25, 2022: We have added three new mattress offers.

WIRED’s Black Friday coverage

We test products all year round and handpicked these offers. Products that are sold out or no longer discounted at the time of release will be Crossed out. We’ll be updating this guide throughout the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend.

Mattress offer

When it comes to mattresses, the rule to live by is never pay full price. Regardless of the season, there is always a sale coming up. The list prices are set artificially high so that offers seem extravagant, but they are not. We’ve handpicked the best deals below, but our best mattress guide has more options and detailed explanations of hybrid versus full foam.

Helix Midnight Luxe Hybrid Mattress

Photo: Helix Sleep

This is our favorite mattress and it’s the one to get if money is no object. This is the same price as it was during their Memorial Day sale and $50 more than last Black Friday (the base price has increased). Living up to its Luxe name, it’s plush and cushioned on top, but still has a medium-firm feel that’s good for all sleeping positions. The size of the discount depends on the size you choose. Click the Show offer button at the top of the website to see exactly how much and which code you need to use at checkout. Each mattress order comes with two pillows.

Don’t want to spend as much money as Helix? Casper is a great option if you are not sure which mattress to buy. It’s what our reviewer called “as close to a standard as beds come.” You get soft support, better breathability and edge support than on a foam mattress.

You know those jackets you can buy that are reversible? Well, that’s what this Layla is, except it’s a mattress. You can flip this two-sided foam mattress if you want a night’s sleep on a soft or firm surface. It’s a nice way to get a feel for both types without having to go to the store. Or maybe you just prefer to switch things up every now and then.

Tuft & Needle Mint mattress

Photo: Tuft and Needle

This mattress is ideal if you need pressure relief to sleep better at night. You’ll sink into its top layer of adaptive foam, it feels supportive. There’s green ceramic gel foam to disperse the heat and it manages to keep its shape so there won’t be a person-shaped outline the next night.

Enter the code BFCM22 at checkout to see the discount. WIRED reviewer Medea Giordano likes sleeping on this mattress and says it’s comfortable. It’s not perfect – there isn’t much edge support at the foot of the bed, although the other three sides are fine. You get two free pillows with your order.

Nectar Sleep Memory Foam Mattress

Does the thought of spending more than a grand on a bed keep you awake at night? Well, that’s a solid deal. The Nectar mattress is a good option for side sleepers. Its MSRP is $999, but we usually see it drop to $799, so this really is a real discount. It’s a full foam bed, not a hybrid, but it’s just snug enough – it sinks in but doesn’t swallow you. If you want to add two pillows, sheets and a mattress protector, add the accessories on offer for $99.

Want to spend as little as possible? Here’s what you’ll get. The Tulo mattress comes with a ventilated memory foam top layer to keep you cool at night, as well as four additional layers of foam to keep you comfortable. It tops many cheap foam rivals by not letting you sink too far into this mattress.

Sound machine offer

You can find more recommendations in our guide to the best audio machines.

Hatch Restore Sound Machine

Photo: Hatch

Click the coupon button on the page to see the discount at checkout. If you want a sound machine and a sunrise alarm (plus a digital clock!), Hatch hits the spot here. Using the app, you can program your basic morning and night routines and choose your alarm and sleep sounds. It’s still expensive even with this discount. If you subscribe to the Hatch Sleep membership, you get a changing library of sounds, stories and meditations, but it’s not required.

Click the coupon button on the page to see the discount at checkout. This version of Hatch is intended for babies, but anyone can use it. It has child-specific functions, namely the lights for rest time and rise times. It’s good for early risers not to bother their parents on their only day to sleep in, but it can also be useful for adults who need a reminder to put down their phones and take a second to go to sleep . Using the app, you can customize colors and cycle through sounds. The second generation version uses Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth.

Morpheus Sleep Meditation Box

Photo: Marta Puglia/Morpheus

I really like Morphée products. They are well thought out and screenless. You can get a basic audio machine for less, but this one also adds meditations. You can go from crackling fireplace sounds to meditative sessions designed to fall into a deep sleep. The downside is that you can only choose to play for 8 or 20 minutes; I wish it played sounds constantly.

Get this one for kids. Not only is it adorable, but the meditations also take kids on journeys with an animal companion. I gave one to a friend whose daughter loves it and listened as I moved it from room to room. It has the same time limits as the adult version.

Offer with weighted blanket

Our Best Weighted Blankets guide breaks down weights and sizes and has more choices.

Yaasa weighted blanket

Photo: Yaasa

Yaasa’s tapestry is expensive and rarely discounted, but it’s our favorite if you like a stiff, heavy rug. The open knit design is beautiful and allows air to circulate if you are a warm sleeper like me. It also feels so much heavier than other options (that’s a good thing!). You can get it in 15- or 20-pound sizes.

Gravity is perhaps the most well-known weighted carpet company, and this carpet is its first affordable version. It left nothing to be desired – I loved sleeping with it. It’s 15 pounds and the perfect size for one person to enjoy without annoying their partner. It is machine washable, but there are also a few cover options. If you buy the rug from Amazon, there is an additional 10 percent discount on the site.

Brooklinen weighted rug

Photo: The Brookline

You can get a great rug for less with the Gravity option above, but Brooklinen’s is beautiful, especially in terracotta and dark green colors. It’s a nice 12 pounds, with a satisfyingly textured side and a smooth cotton side.

The discount is automatically applied at checkout. The Baloo’s throw is slightly smaller than the Brooklinen’s, so it may be better for solo sleepers (or if your partner doesn’t like weighted blankets). It’s a crisp cool cotton and there are linen duvet covers in some really pretty colours. The rug can also be machine washed and dried.

Buffy Wiggle pillow

Photo: Buffy

Body pillows are generally the length of you or somewhat shorter. With this Wiggle pillow, I can wrap it around me and curl up between it with my head on top. I sleep so well hugging this. The brand also makes fuzzy covers, but they are currently sold out. The cover makes it feel like a teddy bear, but I like the cooling feeling without it.

WIRED reviewer Haley Sprankle has been testing bedding, and these satins from Brooklinen are a front runner. She says they have a buttery soft feel, but they don’t get hot at night. They also come in beautiful, muted colors and even a few patterns like a stunning kaleidoscope.

Photo: Blissy

Blissy’s silk mask is cooling and comfortable, and it blocks out all the light so I can sleep in. It also comes in 38 (!!) colors and patterns. I alternate between this and Nodpod’s weighted sleep mask.

WIRED Reviews Editor Julian Chokkattu likes Parachute’s crisp percale sheets, but the brand’s linen, satin, and cotton options are also on sale. They don’t come in a set though, so you’ll have to buy a $64 ($16 off) top sheet and a $72 ($18 off) fitted sheet separately – there are shams for $63 ($16 off) if you need them. If you do not sleep with a top sheet, this may be an advantage for you.
