4.9 West Texas earthquake felt in El Paso County

EL PASO, Texas – A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck near Mentone, Texas on Thursday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The 4.9 earthquake was felt just five minutes after a 4.5 earthquake in the same area.

An ABC-7 viewer from Horizon City reported feeling shaking.

This comes eight days after a magnitude 5.4 earthquake was felt in West Texas, with reports of tremors in El Paso.

Another earthquake was reported in Whites City, New Mexico near Carlsbad. The magnitude of the earthquake was 2.7.
