Iran shock Wales after Wayne Hennessey red card: World Cup live updates

After having a goal disallowed for offside in the first half and two shots hitting the post in quick succession in the second, Iran looked unlucky against Wales on Friday. But with hope revived after Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was sent off late in the game for a hard challenge, Iran finally broke through on Rouzbeh Cheshmi’s laser strike in the 98th minute and added insurance with Ramin Rezaeian’s goal three minutes later.

The result: A rather stunning 2-0 win for Iran that could well change the fortunes of Group B.
